London: Ghanaian woman, Nania Owusu-Ankomah, a partner at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa and Ankomah, has been appointed the Vice President of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). Her appointment was announced in a statement shared on social media by the law firm on May 18, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, the director of LCIA, Kevin Nash, stated that the appointment of Owusu-Ankomah is deserving due to her contributions to the court. Before her appointment as Vice President, she was a member of the LCIA. Kevin Nash remarked that Nania Owusu-Ankomah's appointment reflects her dedication, leadership, and significant contributions to the LCIA and the international arbitration community.
Nania Owusu-Ankomah serves as a Partner in the Disputes practice group of Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa and Ankomah. She advises and represents clients in high-value litigation and arbitration disputes, known for her experience in cross-border disputes. She also acts as an arbitrator in both international and domestic arbitrations. Nania has been appointed as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator by the LCIA, ICC, and Ghana Arbitration Centre. She is also listed on CPR's Panels of Distinguished Neutrals and the Ghana ADR Hub List of Arbitrators.
Her clientele includes prominent entities such as Tullow, Epiroc, Stena Drilling Limited, Champion X, Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, AngloGold Ashanti (GH) Ltd., Abosso Goldfields Limited, American Tower Company Limited, and others. Nania is a member of the LCIA Court and President of the LCIA African Users' Council. She holds several positions in arbitration-related organizations, including Chair of the Ghana Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a member of the English Commercial Bar (COMBAR) Africa Committee.
Nania Owusu-Ankomah previously served as Co-Chair of the Africa Arbitration Group of the International Bar Association (IBA) Arbitration Committee. She participated in the Task Force for the Commonwealth International Arbitration Study commissioned by the Commonwealth Secretariat. Additionally, she lectures in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Ghana School of Law and is a member of several legal and arbitration associations.
Nania holds a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Ghana, a Qualifying Law Degree and LLM from the University of Leeds, and a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law. She completed the Bar Vocational Course at the College of Law in London, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Law.
