Abesewa: Mr Yakubu Mohammed, the Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South East Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has commended the Pentecost Church for its contributions to advancing the nation's healthcare service delivery. He emphasised that the government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of meeting the health development needs of the nation, highlighting the church's role as a valuable development partner in healthcare.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Mohammed gave the commendation during the launch of the Pentecost Church Medical Mission Outreach at Abesewa in the Ahafo Ano South East Municipality. The outreach, supported by Main Line Health, IMAGHE World Foundation, PENSA International, PENTSOS, and Pentecost Hospital at Abesewa, offered free health screenings to residents, allowing them to understand their health conditions.
Mr Mohammed stated that effective partnerships with private entities and organisations are required to advance the holistic development of local communities. He praised the church for establishing the Pentecost Hospital, which has significantly helped meet the health demand needs of people in local communities. The health medical outreach aims to save lives and improve the health status of the people.
Apostle Dr Ebenezer Hagan, the National Youth Director of the Church of Pentecost, explained that the outreach, themed 'Healing bodies, saving souls', represents the intersection of physical restoration and spiritual renewal. He emphasised the church's dedication to alleviating the burden of disease, providing essential screenings, and offering medical interventions.
Apostle Dr Hagan noted that good health is foundational to the prosperity of any community or nation. Through the outreach, the church, along with medical professionals, aims to transform lives by not only treating illnesses like malaria and hypertension but also by restoring hope to families. He called for community support and participation to achieve the outreach's intended purpose, thereby improving the quality of life and fulfilling the highest calling of faith to save souls.
