Wenchi Municipal NHIS Surpasses 2025 Membership Registration Target

Wenchi: The Wenchi Municipal Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) exceeded its 2025 membership registration target, achieving over 100 percent coverage. In an interview with the media at Wenchi, Madam Linda Asuo, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Scheme, stated that the scheme registered 135,447 people, representing 105 percent of the 128,970 total registering targets for 2025. According to Ghana News Agency, the membership comprised 14,293 children under five years, 22,278 informal sector workers, 15,380 dependents, 51,509 indigent individuals, 1,518 pregnant women, and 2,759 elderly people. Additionally, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributors accounted for 3,092 persons, while SSNIT pensioners numbered 538. Despite the achievement, Mad Asuo advised those who were yet to register to do so, noting that the NHIS offered an opportunity for people to access healthcare services. She also commended the personnel of the scheme for their efforts and expressed hope that they would continue to register more people to benefit from the NHIS.
