Fumbisi: The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, along with local chiefs and residents, has initiated the construction of a modern 24-Hour Economy Market in Fumbisi, located in the Upper East Region. This project aligns with the government's 24-hour economy agenda, aiming to boost economic activity, create jobs, and enhance livelihoods nationwide.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Apaak, who is also the Deputy Minister for Education, expressed his gratitude to the people of Builsa South for their trust in his leadership. He emphasized his commitment to promoting development in the district, which he noted is one of the most deprived and relatively young districts in the country. Despite these challenges, the community remains united and determined to achieve progress.
Dr Apaak attributed the inception of the 24-hour economy concept to former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), commending it as a bold initiative aimed at transforming the nation's economy. He highlighted that the 24-Hour Economy Market project is a tangible result of this economic system, designed to offer continuous economic opportunities and foster inclusive development.
The market is envisioned as a transformative facility that will not only serve traders but also create employment opportunities for the youth during and after its construction. Dr Apaak described it as a 'game-changer' for the district, underscoring the project's unprecedented nature and the privilege of Builsa South being among the first districts to benefit from this initiative.
The District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Anne Musah, pledged the Assembly's full support to ensure the successful completion of the project. Representing the Builsa Traditional Area, Thomas Akanko echoed this commitment, applauding the government and the MP for introducing the project to the district.
Project consultant Sampson Awuah revealed that the construction is expected to be completed within 36 months. He assured residents that local workers would be employed during the construction phase to create job opportunities for the community.
