Fumbisi: Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for honouring his 2024 campaign promises. According to the MP, the President has remained committed to delivering on his governance agenda since assuming office.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Apaak highlighted President Mahama's dedication to fulfilling his promises, citing the planned establishment of '24-Hour Economy Markets' and a Farmer Service Centre in Builsa South as key examples. "Work is far advanced. The site has already been selected, and it will not be long before we return here to cut sod for the construction of the Farmer Service Centre," Dr Apaak stated.
Dr Apaak, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Education, made these remarks at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a '24-Hour Economy Market' in Fumbisi, the capital of the Builsa South District. He explained that the market initiative is part of the government's broader 24-Hour Economy policy, aimed at transforming Ghana's economy and improving citizens' livelihoods.
The ultra-modern market, expected to be completed in 36 months, will feature lockable shops and sheds, a cold store, dedicated meat section, warehouses, administrative offices, police and fire posts, a Women's Development Bank branch, pharmacy, clinic, supermarket, day-care centre, and restaurant, among other facilities. Dr Apaak emphasized that this project is a significant development for the district, describing it as a "game-changer."
Dr Apaak noted that the project will create employment opportunities, improve livelihoods, and stimulate economic growth in the area. He urged all stakeholders to support the initiative's successful execution. Mr Sampson Awuah, the Project Consultant, assured residents that local labour would be prioritized during construction to provide immediate employment opportunities in the district.
Madam Anne Musah, the District Chief Executive for the area, also pledged the Assembly's full support to ensure the project is successfully completed. On behalf of the traditional leadership, Mr Thomas Akanko, a representative of the Chief of Fumbisi, expressed gratitude to the government and the MP for bringing the landmark project to the area. He further pledged the traditional authority's full cooperation and commitment towards the project's completion within the next 36 months.
