Korle bu: The Korle Bu Polyclinic/Family Medicine Department has taken a significant step toward improving patient care with the acquisition of eight anti-decubitus mattresses. These mattresses are intended to aid in the care of bedridden patients and prevent the occurrence of pressure ulcers.
According to Ghana Web, the donation was made on May 15, 2026, by William Kabutey Adjovu, representing the Drewgees Foundation. The initiative aims to boost comfort and clinical outcomes for patients, notably those recovering from strokes. Family Medicine Resident Dr. Gideon Nyarko played a crucial role in facilitating the donation, underscoring the challenges faced by admitted patients and the need for additional support.
Dr. Nyarko noted that this initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance patient care and elevate the quality of services provided at the facility. Chief Nursing Officer Ayesha Adjoa Boateng, who received the items, expressed that the mattresses would greatly improve care for patients facing mobility challenges. She praised Dr. Nyarko for his role in the donation, describing it as both timely and impactful.
Additionally, Chief Nursing Officer Boateng emphasized that the support would help uphold patient dignity and minimize complications related to prolonged immobility. The event was attended by key figures including Head of Department Dr. George Bediako Nketiah, Clinical Care Coordinator Dr. Baaba Damoah, Administrator Phanuel Gadzie, and other staff members.
