Wenchi: A moment unfolded during an inspection of the Wenchi-Sawla road rehabilitation project when a contractor from CIWE Engineering Ltd Ghana pleaded with the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, not to terminate the company's contract.
According to Ghana Web, the emotional exchange occurred after the Roads Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on the project and questioned the contractor's ability to complete the rehabilitation within the stipulated 24-month timeline. During the inspection, Agbodza reportedly stated that he lacked confidence in the progress of the project and doubted whether the company could successfully deliver the road works on schedule.
The minister's remarks appeared to heighten concerns over a possible termination of the contract, prompting a representative of CIWE Engineering Ltd Ghana to make a direct appeal. 'Honourable, we beg,' the contractor pleaded during the engagement. However, the minister responded, 'this is not about we beg.'
The Wenchi-Sawla road project forms part of the government's 'Big Push' infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road connectivity and transportation in the area.
