Assin fosu: The Hatch House Foundation, a non-government organisation focused on aiding underserved schools and communities in Ghana, has unveiled a new mechanised borehole at the Assin Odumase Roman Catholic Basic School in the Central Region's Assin Fosu Municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Foundation also contributed vital ICT equipment to the school, including computers, a projector with accessories, and a multipurpose coloured printer. This contribution aims to enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the institution.
The support followed a request from the school authorities in February 2026. Prior to this, the Foundation had already provided 10 sets of all-in-one desktop computers to bolster ICT education at the school. Mrs Stephanie Adawu Dadzie, speaking on behalf of the Foundation's CEO, Mr Tayib Sheriff, stated that the donation was a promise fulfilled and a strategic initiative to enhance ICT training and skill development among students. She highlighted the importance of access to ICT tools in the current technology-driven environment and reiterated the Foundation's commitment to equipping students with necessary digital skills.
Mrs Dadzie also mentioned a tragic event that underscored the need for the water project, recalling a student's fatal accident while rushing home for drinking water. She noted that the new mechanised borehole is expected to benefit over 2,000 students, alleviate financial pressures on parents, and significantly improve sanitation and welfare for both students and teachers. She encouraged the school to maintain the newly provided facilities and equipment responsibly.
Madam Theresah Amoah, the Headteacher, accepted the donations on the school's behalf and recounted how the lack of potable water had negatively impacted education, as students frequently left the school grounds in search of water. The new borehole, she noted, would enhance hygiene and provide a better learning environment, while the ICT equipment would strengthen ICT education. She added that the projectors would make lessons more engaging and improve educational outcomes, preparing students for future job markets.
Local residents expressed gratitude towards the Foundation for its support and encouraged students to excel academically and bring pride to the community.
