Sunyani: Mr. Frank Adjapong, a leading member of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, has described President John Dramani Mahama's national development agenda as trustworthy, massive, and stirring.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Adjapong praised the ongoing Big Push Road infrastructure program, calling it a game changer. He admitted that although he campaigned against President Mahama in 2016, he now recognizes the President's genuine commitment to carrying out substantial infrastructural development.
Mr. Adjapong, known as 'Interbegamo,' has been a dedicated NPP member, contesting for various Bono Regional Executive positions since 2008. Despite his political allegiance, he admires President Mahama's leadership due to the President's passion for development. He highlighted the government's success in stabilizing the economy and bringing inflation to a single digit as a significant achievement.
He emphasized that initiatives like the 'Big Push' road infrastructure and the 'Noko Nketenkete' have the potential to transform the nation's economic landscape. Mr. Adjapong expressed optimism that the 'Nkoko Nkenteke' initiative would be fully utilized by beneficiary farmers, urging contractors involved in the 'Big Push' to maintain quality in their work.
Mr. Adjapong noted that the appreciation of the Ghana cedis against the United States dollar and the drop in inflation figures are signs of the economy's positive growth. He believes the improved road networks and other socio-economic programs will attract investments and boost investor confidence.
He expressed concern about the high cost of living, attributing it to traders and businesses not reducing prices in line with economic improvements. He urged the government to create job opportunities for the youth to combat rising unemployment.
Mr. Adjapong concluded by expressing his admiration for President Mahama's leadership and urged him to stay focused on transforming the nation's economic prospects, despite facing detractors and economic challenges.
