Sunyani: Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Area, has lifted the suspension of Oboaman Bofotia Boa-Amponsem II, the Krontrihene of the area, effective immediately. A letter from Nana Brayie II's office, shared with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, announced the reinstatement, allowing the sub-chief to resume his customary and traditional roles.
According to Ghana News Agency, the letter expressed satisfaction with the restoration of order within the Sunyani Traditional Area, stating, "I am happy to inform you of the withdrawal of customary and traditional sanctions imposed on you as contained in a letter dated back March 27, 2024." The suspension was initially enforced to help reestablish order and discipline.
The communication further emphasized the necessity of the Krontrihene for the functioning of the Sunyani Traditional Council, declaring that "Nananom will agree with me that the Sunyani Traditional Council can't continue to function without a Krontrihene." The letter highlighted the significant customary role that the Krontri stool plays within the Traditional Area and Council.
Bofotia Boa-Amponsem II was previously suspended indefinitely by the Sunyani Traditional Council in 2024, which prohibited him from executing his duties as Krontrihene and participating in traditional council meetings.
