SUSEC Celebrates Removal from WAEC’s Malpractice Hotspot List

Sunyani: Mr. Gordon Osei Marfo, the Headmaster of Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC), has announced that the school is no longer listed as a hotspot for examination malpractices by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Marfo expressed pride in this achievement, attributing it to the significant progress made in eliminating examination malpractices during the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). He shared these remarks during a stakeholders' engagement meeting in Sunyani, organized by the school in preparation for the 2026 WASSCE. The meeting was attended by the 2026 candidates, teachers, parents, WAEC officials, and the Parent Teacher Association of the school. Mr. Marfo, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), emphasized SUSEC's commitment to maintaining honesty, transparency, and strict adherence to examination regulations. He stated that the school aims to be a mode l of excellence and credibility not only in examination results but also in character. With over 1,350 candidates registered for the 2026 WASSCE, he urged students to avoid all forms of malpractice. Professor Emmanuel Opuni-Frimpong, SUSEC's Board Chairman, highlighted the strict regulations of WAEC governing the WASSCE and warned against acts like bringing unauthorized materials into exam halls, collusion, impersonation, and using mobile phones. He stressed the severe consequences of such actions, which could include result cancellation, certificate withholding, and sanctions against the school. Mr. Daniel Dodoo, the Sunyani WAEC Controller, further cautioned students against engaging in malpractice and warned that offenders could face prosecution. He advised against assaulting or accosting examination officials, which could result in serious legal trouble. In an open forum, stakeholders commended the school's Board and Management for their strict enforcement of WAEC's rules and pledged their support to c ombat malpractices and uphold discipline among students.
