Accra: Quality Insurance Company (QIC) PLC has marked its 30th anniversary, highlighting its growth, innovation, and commitment to youth development since its establishment in 2006. Speaking at the event held at Christ the King on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Head of Operations, Cecil Ribeiro, emphasized the importance of showcasing the company's achievements to the public.
According to Ghana Web, Ribeiro stated, "The company was established in 2006 as a composite insurance company, and 30 years down the line, we have achieved a lot. We think we have to bring these achievements to the attention of the public and also celebrate our successes." He noted the significant growth of the company over the years, highlighted by its expansion beyond its initial structure.
Ribeiro elaborated, "Remember, we started as a composite company. Now this company has three other companies beneath it. We have Quality Life, Quality Financial Trust, and we are in the process of forming another." He also emphasized the company's focus on creating opportunities for young people, evidenced by its youthful workforce. "If you look at our staff strength, you will realize that the average age in Quality Insurance is about 32 or 33. We recruit directly from PAX Romana, and the whole idea is to grow the youth," he explained.
Looking towards the future, Ribeiro expressed optimism, stating, "There's a big opportunity for growth, and I see a bright future for the company." He also highlighted the introduction of unique products within Ghana's insurance industry, noting, "Quality Insurance Company is the only insurance company in Ghana that provides an alternative vehicle for women who are involved in accidents."
The company's 'Go Girl' insurance product has gained industry recognition, having won "Insurance Product of the Year" consecutively in recent years. Ribeiro disclosed the company's financial growth, stating that its premium writing has increased significantly from GHS500,000 or GHS1 million to over GHS130 million.
Ribeiro also emphasized QIC's consistent underwriting profits, a rarity among industry players in Ghana. "Underwriting profit is not something that other insurance companies often post in Ghana. Most profits are from investments, but for us, it means that from the actual process of doing insurance business, we are making money," he said.
He concluded by highlighting the company's social impact, with its dividends supporting Catholic hospitals and schools across the country, achievements that the company takes pride in.
