Accra: Head Pastor of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has stirred controversy online after describing Ghanaians who complain about the ongoing 'dumsor' as 'stupid' during a church service.
According to Ghana Web, Prophet Oduro noted that many of those who initially expressed loud complaints during the period of unstable electricity supply have now gone quiet, even though the power situation has somewhat improved. In a video circulating online, he remarked, "Fools. You see that after the light became stable, no one has said anything about it, it is only stupidity that will trigger anyone to come out and complain about dumsor."
The preacher further argued that the challenges surrounding the power crisis were linked to issues affecting the Akosombo Dam, stating that the situation was beyond ordinary political blame games. He insisted that citizens should have understood the root of the crisis instead of constantly complaining. "Akosombo got burnt, and no one could say let's pray, but they were complaining, why? It will take time for the problem to be fixed. So, problems shouldn't be fixed because you voted? What sort of stupid mindset is that?" he insisted.
His remarks, particularly the use of the word 'stupid' in describing critics of dumsor, have since generated intense debate online. Critics have described the statement as insensitive, considering the impact of power outages on businesses and households.
