KNMA Enhances Staff Skills to Boost Service Delivery

Dzodze: The Ketu North Municipal Assembly (KNMA) has successfully concluded its 2026 Annual Staff Capacity Building Training Week, an initiative designed to enhance staff competence and improve service delivery across the municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, the week-long training, held from April 21 to April 28, 2026, at the Assembly Hall in Dzodze, gathered 80 staff members comprising 55 males and 25 females from various departments and units of the Assembly. This programme is a part of the Assembly's initiative to strengthen institutional performance and equip staff with the necessary technical and administrative skills for better local governance and service delivery.

Organised under the framework of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), the training aimed to sharpen staff competencies, ensuring more efficient and responsive service to the residents of Ketu North. During the opening session, Mr. Bernard Sakyiama, the Municipal Coordinating Director, highlighted the significance of continuous human resource development in achieving effective local administration.

Mr. Sakyiama emphasized that human capital is the Assembly's most valuable asset and encouraged participants to apply the acquired knowledge to improve productivity, professionalism, and service delivery in their respective roles. He noted that the success of local governance relies not only on policy and infrastructure but also on the competence, discipline, and commitment of the personnel responsible for implementation.

He urged staff to view the training as an opportunity to enhance their skills, improve interdepartmental coordination, and deepen their understanding of the Assembly's operational systems. The 2026 training week adopted a peer-to-peer learning approach, with Heads of Departments and internal technical officers facilitating the various sessions.

Organisers stated that this approach ensured that the presentations were practical, context-specific, and directly aligned with the Assembly's operational realities and development priorities. Twelve thematic presentations were delivered during the training, covering critical areas such as local governance, administration, planning, budgeting, records management, public service ethics, interdepartmental collaboration, and performance improvement.

Additional topics included staff welfare, accountability systems, workplace discipline, and strategies for enhancing public service delivery at the local level. Participants engaged in practical sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of administrative procedures, improve efficiency in service provision, and enhance their responsiveness to resident needs.

The training also provided a platform for staff to share experiences, identify operational challenges, and discuss practical solutions to improve coordination and performance across departments. The management of the Assembly stated that this initiative is part of a broader commitment to institutional strengthening and professional development within the local government service.

The Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to building a highly skilled, disciplined, and motivated workforce capable of driving development and delivering quality services to the people of Ketu North. It emphasized that investment in staff development remains central to the Assembly's vision of promoting efficient governance, responsive administration, and sustainable local development.
