Accra: Ghanaian comedian and actor Prince Kwame Amoabeng, popularly known as Jeneral Ntatia, has shared insights into the financial potential of comedy. He stated that the craft can be pursued as a full-time career despite its early challenges.
According to Ghana Web, while speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on April 29, 2026, Jeneral Ntatia explained that starting in comedy can be difficult, but persistence and the right mindset are key to success. He noted that many upcoming comedians give up too early because they expect instant recognition. Jeneral Ntatia recounted mentoring a young comedian who became discouraged after producing a few videos without gaining public attention. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and having fun with the craft.
Jeneral Ntatia further highlighted that comedy can be very lucrative once a performer reaches a certain level. He disclosed that the highest amount he has charged for a stand-up comedy performance in Ghana was about GH?40,000. This substantial fee was earned from a single performance at a corporate event, where he performed for 30 minutes. He expressed surprise at the lack of negotiation for the fee and reflected on the potential to earn even more in the future.
