Accra: Mr Effah-Boachie, the Nkoranza North Constituency Secretary of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has praised the government for reshaping certain roads in the constituency. He pointed out that the poor condition of roads had been a significant challenge for the local population, noting that the previous administration did not prioritize road improvements despite repeated appeals from community members.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Effah-Boachie emphasized that while improved roads are beneficial, they do not directly address the socio-economic needs of rural residents. He remarked, "We don't eat roads and a road does not put money in our pockets." He stressed the importance of creating opportunities for farmers to sell their produce and enhance their livelihoods, questioning the value of better roads if farmers cannot sell their products.
Mr Effah-Boachie urged the government to focus on the needs of cocoa and other farmers, highlighting the economic hardships they face. He called for a transformation of the agriculture sector, which is a major employment source in the area, and criticized the government's perceived inaction as "lip service."
Furthermore, Mr Effah-Boachie mentioned the upcoming NPP's internal elections, noting that nominations for the polling station executive elections are scheduled from Monday, April 20, to April 24, 2026. He described these elections as a pivotal step in the party's internal reorganization in preparation for Election 2028.
