Accra: Yaw Omane Boamah, son of the late former Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has been selected to represent Ghana at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). The Ghana International School student earned the opportunity after progressing through the 2026 MISE programme, which brought together over 600 students from more than 100 schools across the country.
According to Ghana Web, the competition was narrowed down to six national finalists, with Yaw Omane Boamah and Qi Wang emerging among the top performers. Both students have also been selected to represent Ghana at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), with Qi Wang finishing as the overall best. The school shared in a Facebook post on April 16, 2026, that the 2026 MISE journey was extraordinary, narrowing through intense stages to just six national finalists.
The school further explained that despite the demanding preparation for the IMO, the two students participated in the MISE Research Programme, which focuses on advanced, real-world mathematics. Their performance in the programme earned them a place at ISEF, marking another major milestone in their academic journey. Both have earned the honour of representing Ghana at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), with Qi Wang emerging as the first-best overall, a powerful mark of excellence.
The Ghana International School acknowledged the support behind the students' success, including their coach and parents.
