Accra: Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has highlighted the Heritage Lunch initiative as a practical vehicle for fostering job creation, entrepreneurship, and community-based tourism across Ghana. Speaking at the launch event held in Accra, Sowah emphasized the significant role such programs play in supporting livelihoods and promoting national cultural identity.
According to Ghana Web, the Deputy Minister articulated that the Heritage Lunch initiative directly contributes to enhancing livelihoods and advancing community-based tourism. This, in turn, supports job creation, encourages entrepreneurship, strengthens local supply chains, and fosters pride in Ghana's cultural identity. Sowah reaffirmed the Ministry's dedication to partnering with traditional authorities, metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies, as well as community stakeholders, to drive initiatives that empower people and boost participation in local governance and development.
She further noted that development becomes truly meaningful when it impacts the lives of ordinary people and creates opportunities for communities to thrive. The Heritage Lunch was described as a robust example of how private sector innovation and community collaboration can be leveraged to advance cultural initiatives, support livelihoods, and enhance tourism.
Sowah called upon stakeholders nationwide to embrace similar initiatives that align economic development with cultural preservation, underscoring the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors to achieve these goals.
