Kofi Tonto Slams NDC’s GHS6 Billion Request for Kumasi-Accra Bypass

Accra: Kofi Tonto, an aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, raised serious concerns about the escalating cost of the Accra-Kumasi dualization project.

According to Ghana Web, Tonto revealed on Joy News that during the NPP's time in office, a significant portion of the project, including four bypasses, was awarded at a cost of GHC 2 billion, with 64% of the work completed. However, Tonto pointed out that the remaining 34% of the project, now under the responsibility of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, is set to cost GHC 6 billion, which is three times more than the original budget.

Tonto questioned the logic behind this increase, stating, "You read it right; the remaining 34% will cost Ghana three times more than the original cost." His comments highlight growing concerns over budget overruns in major infrastructure projects across the country.
