Watch as Nigeria’s NDLEA Intercepts 237 Wraps of Cocaine Concealed in Stockfish

Lagos: The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 237 wraps of cocaine concealed inside dried stockfish at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

According to Ghana Web, the consignment was reportedly bound for India before it was intercepted during routine airport checks. In a video shared on X on Sunday, March 29, 2026, NDLEA operatives can be seen unpacking the stockfish to reveal the illicit substance carefully hidden within.

This incident is not isolated, as traffickers have previously attempted to smuggle cocaine using food items. In March 2026, NDLEA operatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja arrested a 74-year-old man who attempted to conceal 11 kilograms of cocaine inside pepper and other foodstuffs while trying to board a flight to London.

The latest seizure underscores the increasingly sophisticated methods traffickers employ to transport narcotics across borders. Meanwhile, investigations are expected to be conducted to trace the network behind the shipment.
