Accra: James Owusu, a chairman aspirant of the United States branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on members of the Ghanaian diaspora to play a more strategic role in supporting the party's presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to Ghana Web, Owusu highlighted the diaspora community's significant human, financial, and logistical capacity that could strengthen the NPP's electoral efforts if effectively mobilised. He stressed the importance of the NPP's external branches, particularly in the United States, to intensify their efforts in securing victory for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming national polls.
Owusu underlined the diaspora's critical role in the party's broader campaign strategy, noting that members abroad have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the NPP's ideals. He urged a shift from symbolic support to a more structured mobilisation of expertise, funding, and operations to boost campaign efforts both domestically and internationally.
He described how many Ghanaians overseas possess professional skills and networks beneficial for campaign messaging, voter outreach, and policy advocacy.
