Accra: Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Mzbel has called on preacher Fire Oja to retract defamatory statements he made about her and issue an apology. In an interview with the media on March 11, 2026, Mzbel, who is currently battling the case with Fire Oja in court, emphasised that she is simply seeking accountability and protecting her reputation.
According to Ghana Web, Mzbel stated, “It’s not about money for me. It’s rather about accountability. I want him to retract everything he said about me because they’re not true. He should retract and apologise so we can move on. I don’t need his money.” She further expressed concern over being labeled a liar, which she claims is the root of the ongoing legal battle.
Mzbel clarified that she has no personal relationship with Fire Oja and had never interacted with him prior to the issue surfacing. She alleged that Fire Oja’s public attack stemmed from someone using her testimony to promote a project, prompting others not on good terms with her to also confront her.
The musician initially believed the issue could be resolved through dialogue but feels the situation has escalated due to Fire Oja’s persistent remarks. “I felt like we could sit down and solve it, but from the way he keeps going, I don’t know. He’s calling me a liar and I’m not a liar,” she noted.
Mzbel revealed that the controversy affected her work and business activities, particularly during a busy period in December when she typically receives numerous bookings for shows and events. She stressed the impact on her businesses, which rely heavily on public support, and emphasized the need to defend her name and livelihood.
The dispute arose after Prophet Fire Oja alleged that Mzbel experienced serious health complications in 2025 following a visit to a traditionalist known as Ola Maame for a “soul travel” ritual. He claimed this led to her hospitalization and accused her of collaborating with the traditionalist to deceive women visiting Ola Maame’s shrine in Kasoa.
Mzbel denied these accusations, challenging anyone spreading such claims to provide evidence of any negative experience with the spiritualist. Through her lawyers, she issued a legal notice demanding a retraction, apology, and compensation from Prophet Fire Oja, giving him a 10-day ultimatum to comply. His failure to respond compelled Mzbel to take the matter to court.
