Offinso: Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Member of Parliament for Offinso North in the Ashanti Region, has unveiled a special education development package named 'Anidaso Students Assistantship Program (ASAP)' aimed at supporting the youth in the constituency. According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is the first of its kind in the area and is designed to provide financial assistance to the youth, enabling them to pursue tertiary education without stress. Dr. Asamoah, speaking at the launch which coincided with Ghana's 69th Independence Day celebration, emphasized the importance of preparing the youth for the future. He stated, "We're not only celebrating today, but preparing our youth for the future." Dr. Asamoah highlighted that development should begin at the grassroots level, from polling stations and other local communities, rather than larger towns or the capital, Accra. He noted the significant potential of the Ghanaian youth to transform their lives and positively impact society, asserting that solutio ns to the nation's socio-economic challenges lie within the community. He projected that within the next ten to twenty years, many young individuals in the constituency would achieve higher academic and career qualifications, allowing them to compete in local and international job markets and positively impact their communities and the nation. Under the ASAP, each prospective tertiary student from the constituency will receive a minimum of GHc2,000 in financial assistance annually. The launch event also marked the culmination of a Youth Forum led by Dr. Asamoah, where participants discussed youth development themes such as challenges and opportunities, skills development, entrepreneurship, agriculture as a business, youth participation in governance, and innovation challenges. The forum was well-attended by young individuals from various communities and dignitaries including Messrs Charles Abugri, Martin Addo Fordjour, Mogman Johnson, the Presiding Member of the Offinso North District Assembly, the Offinso North District Director of Education, and the Offinso North Constituency Chairman of the NPP.
