Tarkwa: Mr Ebenezer Cobbinah, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has advised students to take their studies seriously and adequately prepare themselves to take advantage of future opportunities. He emphasized that the responsibility of managing the country would eventually be handed over to the youth, expressing confidence that they would excel and not disappoint their generation.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Cobbinah urged students to make their parents, teachers, and themselves proud, cautioning against engaging in behaviors that could hinder the achievement of their goals. This advice was part of a speech delivered on his behalf during the 69th Independence Day Anniversary celebration organized by the Ghana Manganese Company at Nsuta, involving both public and private schools within its host communities. The theme of the celebration was 'Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.'
The MCE praised teachers in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality for their contributions to human resource development. He stated that restoring hope required unity, discipline, patriotism, and leadership that is accessible and responsive, pledging to collaborate with stakeholders to uphold the confidence placed in him. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding peace, respecting the rule of law, and contributing positively to national development, noting that prosperity could only be achieved through shared responsibility.
As part of his message, Mr Cobbinah encouraged citizens to recommit to ideals such as hard work, integrity, tolerance, and love for their country as they marked the 69th Independence Day Anniversary. He expressed a belief that together, citizens could build prosperity, restore hope, and secure a brighter future for future generations.
The MCE also highlighted that the Assembly's vision aligns with the national development agenda, committing to translating government policies into tangible benefits through efficient service delivery and transparency. He announced ongoing efforts to increase access to and improve the quality of education, including the construction of a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Esuoso and a two-unit kindergarten block at Tetrem. Additionally, rehabilitation works are underway on a six-unit classroom block at Quayson School, while another six-unit classroom block with a six-seater toilet facility and mechanized borehole at Bogrekrom has been completed and will soon be handed over.
