Al-kharj: Two people were killed and 12 injured in Saudi Arabia on Sunday when a military projectile fell on a residential site, as confirmed by the Saudi civil defence authority in a statement.
According to Ghana News Agency, the two fatalities were identified as an Indian and a Bangladeshi national, while all 12 injured individuals were from Bangladesh. The affected site is linked to a maintenance and cleaning company located in al-Kharj province.
These incidents mark the first reported deaths by Saudi Arabia since the onset of the conflict. The kingdom has been experiencing frequent missile and drone attacks, targeting US bases and oil fields. Many of these projectiles are intercepted by air defense systems, reducing potential damage.
While the statement did not specify the origin of the projectiles, a spokesperson emphasized that 'attempts to target civilian facilities are a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.' The Prince Sultan Air Base, situated in al-Kharj, south of Riyadh, has faced repeated targeting in recent days.
