Cape coast: The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has initiated an investigation into the death of Kweku Mensah, a student who died following a road accident on campus. The tragic event has spurred the institution to seek clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to Ghana Web, the university released a statement detailing that Kweku Mensah, a Level 200 Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) student, was involved in a collision while riding a motorcycle to retrieve his identification card for an examination. The accident, which occurred on March 5, 2026, involved an Ayalolo bus and resulted in serious injuries to Mensah.
The statement from UCC disclosed that Mensah was promptly transported to the UCC Hospital; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The collision took place along the stretch between the Amissah-Arthur Language Centre and the Sandwich Lecture Theatre (SWLT).
The incident has been reported to the police and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) for further investigations. The body of the deceased has been placed in the UCC Morgue, and his family has been notified of the unfortunate event.
The university expressed its condolences to Mensah's family and appealed to the university community for calm as investigations continue to unveil the details of the accident.
