Sefwi akontombra: Mr Joseph Appiah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Akontombra Constituency, and Mr Pious Kwame Nkuah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, have commissioned a Community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) compound for the people of Sefwi Shed community.
According to Ghana News Agency, the DCE emphasized that the initiative is part of the government's efforts to complete stalled projects to enhance healthcare delivery.
The CHPS compound is expected to improve access to healthcare for residents of Sefwi Shed and surrounding areas. Mr Nkuah stated that the facility would provide primary healthcare services, reduce the need for long-distance travel for medical care, and improve maternal and child health services.
Commending the collaborative efforts with the MP, Mr Nkuah reiterated the Assembly's commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure. Mr Joseph Appiah highlighted health as a key priority in the district's development agenda and expressed his support for initiatives benefiting constituents.
Nana Yaw Badu II, the Chief of Amafie and Twafohene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, praised the efforts of the MP and DCE. He pledged to maintain the facility for future generations and noted existing challenges such as lack of potable water, poor roads, and weak telecommunications.
Dr Iddrissu Kunamsi, the Akontombra District Director of Health, assured community members of quality healthcare services. Additionally, the DCE handed over a mechanized borehole to residents of Asantekrom community in a separate ceremony.
