Accra: Ghana's 69th Independence Day National Parade is set to take place at the forecourt of the Presidency on Friday, 6th March, 2026.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Winnifred N. Mahama, the Acting Director of the Information Services Department, has issued a statement inviting all interested media houses to apply for accreditation to cover the event.
The statement outlines the application requirements for media organizations, requesting an official letter of assignment from their media houses. This letter should include the names and contact details of the nominated journalists or camera crew, and submissions should be sent via email to '[email protected]' by the deadline of Friday, 27 February, 2026, at 17:00 hours.
Regarding accreditation allocation, the statement mentions that due to space constraints and the high volume of expected applications, each media house will be allocated only one accreditation. Media houses with existing accreditation for covering the Presidency may utilize their assigned reporters for the event.
The statement also details guidelines for photography and video coverage. Accredited photographers and videographers must arrive at the venue by 0645 hours for security clearance and positioning. They are required to display accreditation badges prominently and follow instructions from security personnel and media liaison officers. Designated media zones must be adhered to throughout the event.
Equipment restrictions are also specified, allowing only professional cameras and video equipment. Drones and aerial photography devices are prohibited without prior written approval. Tripods and monopods must be positioned in designated areas, while stabilizers and gimbals are permitted within specified guidelines.
Filming and photography protocols caution against movements during the national anthem, presidential address, and ceremonial moments. Media personnel are urged to maintain their positions to avoid obstructing the view of dignitaries, guests, live broadcast cameras, and other media personnel. No live streaming from personal or mobile devices is allowed, as the official live video feed will be provided by the Presidency's Communications and Ghana Television.
The statement also addresses restricted areas, noting that only accredited official photographers and videographers are permitted in the Presidential dais and immediate surroundings, Red Security Zone, security checkpoints, and VIP seating areas. The Presidency Communications team will provide a clean/raw feed for media houses wishing to broadcast or stream the program live, and media houses should indicate their interest when submitting their accreditation application.
Finally, the statement emphasizes that accreditation is non-transferable, late arrivals may not be admitted, and media personnel must dress in formal or business attire.
