Ekroful: Mr Francis Bullen Davor, the Chief Executive Officer of Rock Africa Limited, has officially commissioned a six-classroom block for the Ekroful Primary (A) basic school in the Gomoa Central District of the Central region. The newly constructed block is equipped with offices, washrooms, a special pad-room for girls, and a solar-powered water pump to ensure an uninterrupted water supply.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project was supervised by Mr Francis Appiah-Amoh, a native of Ekroful who sought assistance, while the Nananom of Gomoa Aboso, Benso, Ekroful, and Akropong No.2 provided oversight. In his address, Mr Davor emphasized the company's commitment to social responsibility, highlighting that the initiative aims to contribute to the development of human resources in the area. He advocated for investment in education by providing a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning, which includes solar-powered electricity for night-time study.
Mr Davor encouraged parents to support and guide their children towards a promising future. Additionally, Rock Africa Limited has supported the Ekroful Primary (A) school in establishing a Cadet program, providing two sets of uniforms, and pledging GHC100,000 annually for maintenance of the building. He urged the school's management to maintain the facility diligently and cautioned students against damaging the provided resources.
The local chiefs commended the CEO's contributions to local human resource development, bestowing upon him the title of Development Chief of Gomoa Aboso, Benso, Ekroful, and Akropong No.2, with the stool name Nana Davor I. Nana Odum Amanfo IV, Chief of Gomoa Akropong NO2, presented Nana Davor with a stool and native sandals, signifying his new role.
Nana Davor expressed his gratitude for the honor and pledged continued support from Rock Africa to the community. He announced scholarships for ten outstanding students to pursue higher education, aiming to strengthen human capacity for the town's progress.
Mr Appiah-Amoh shared that he was inspired by his late father's vision to support local schools, leading him to collaborate with Rock Africa Limited for this project after discussing the school's deteriorating conditions with Mr Davor. He urged locals and expatriates to contribute to the town's development.
Mr Hackman Aidoo, the District Chief Executive for Gomoa Central, extended his appreciation to the CEO of Rock Africa Limited for his significant contributions. He noted that the Assembly had renovated an existing six-classroom block and highlighted the government's efforts under President Mahama to improve education in the district. The DCE assured the CEO that the Assembly would oversee the utilization of the maintenance funds to ensure the school's upkeep.
