COBAANA to Construct Ultra-Modern Dialysis Center in Sunyani

Sunyani: The Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA) has announced plans to construct an ultra-modern dialysis center in Sunyani to address kidney-related diseases. The council, which is the largest umbrella organization for Bono and Ahafo natives residing in North America, aims to tackle development challenges in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. DeGraft Kwafo Gyan, the Chairman of COBAANA, stated in an interview in Sunyani that the association is committed to addressing these health issues. A sod-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the project site in the regional capital.

Dr. Gyan noted that the construction of the dialysis center is imperative due to the increasing incidence of kidney-related diseases. He expressed concern over the lack of major dialysis facilities in the Bono and Ahafo regions, which has necessitated travel to Kumasi for treatment.

The new facility, once completed, is expected to significantly reduce the economic burden on families who currently have to transport patients to Kumasi for dialysis services. Baffour Owusu Sika Aduomi, the General Secretary of COBAANA, also expressed gratitude to the Sunyani Traditional Council and the Bono Regional Coordinating Council for providing land for the project.
