DOPASS Headmaster Appeals for Infrastructure Support to Boost Student Enrolment

Dodi-papase: Mr John Mensah Da-Silveira, the headmaster of Dodi-Papase Senior High Technical School (DOPASS), has made a call to philanthropic individuals and organizations to provide support in the form of classroom blocks and dormitories. This appeal aims to address the school's longstanding issue of low student enrolment, which has persisted since its establishment in 1983 due to inadequate infrastructure. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Da-Silveira elaborated that the lack of sufficient classroom blocks and dormitories has been a significant factor in the school's low enrolment numbers. Students taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at DOPASS often compare its facilities with those of institutions like Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) and Buemman Senior High School (BUSEC) before making their educational choices. The headmaster emphasized these points during the grand durbar of the school's SRC Week celebration in Dodi-Papase, located in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Regi on. The headmaster highlighted the school's struggle with inadequate classrooms and limited boarding facilities, which negatively impact teaching and learning. He revealed that a project funded by GETFund and initiated in 2015, managed by DEFIAT Development Company Limited, has stalled. Completion of this project is expected to alleviate classroom challenges and foster a more conducive learning environment for students and staff alike. Mr Da-Silveira urged students to focus on their academic goals, conveying that hard work and discipline are essential for success. He advised against adopting behaviours that could compromise their values and future prospects. Additionally, Mr Seth Seyram Deh, the Kadjebi District Director of the Ghana Education Service, commended the school community for a successful SRC Week celebration and encouraged students to avoid social vices and prioritize their studies. Dr Sam Issaka Suraj, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive, assured attendees that the Assembly is aware of the sc hool's infrastructure needs. He committed to working with Mr Yao Gomado, Member of Parliament for Akan, and Mr Divine Degblah, an aide to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to address the classroom and dormitory issues. Dr Suraj encouraged students to study diligently to excel in their examinations. Solidarity messages from the SRCs of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School, Ahamansu Islamic Senior High School, and Ntruboman Senior High School praised DOPASS for its commitment to unity and academic excellence. The celebration, featuring cultural performances and speeches, highlighted the necessity for collective stakeholder efforts to enhance educational infrastructure in the Kadjebi District.
