Winneba: The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members to remain patient and calm as fewer ministerial appointments are expected under the current NDC government. Speaking at a gathering in Winneba within the Effutu Constituency, Nketiah explained the challenges faced in appointing members to District Chief Executive (DCE) positions.
According to Ghana Web, Nketiah addressed the frustrations of some party supporters who have yet to receive appointments, emphasizing that President Mahama cannot appoint everyone to a DCE position simultaneously. He urged members to understand the limitations set by the constitution on the number of appointments the president can make.
While on a 'Thank You Tour' in the Central Region, Nketiah reminded party members that the NDC had previously criticized the large number of ministers under Nana Akufo-Addo's administration. He highlighted the party's manifesto promise to reduce ministerial numbers to 60, which has been achieved, resulting in fewer available positions.
Nketiah encouraged party supporters to adhere to established procedures when voicing concerns about appointments. He reassured them that the government acknowledges their issues and will address them in due time, urging patience and proper communication through appropriate channels.
