The election took place in Addis Ababa, where Morocco secured more than two-thirds of the votes, totaling 34, in the first-round vote.
According to Sierra Leone News Agency, this marks the third time Morocco has been elected to the AU-PSC since its return to the African Union in 2017. The Kingdom previously served on the council for a three-year term from 2022 to 2025, and a two-year term from 2018 to 2020. Throughout these mandates, Morocco has played a crucial role in enhancing the council's working methods and promoting best practices in collaboration with other member states.
