Dabaa: The Apagyahene of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, Oheheba Owusu-Afriyie IV, has commended the government for its commitment to continuing and completing development projects inherited from previous administrations. He emphasized the importance of this practice for sustainable development across the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, Oheneba Owusu-Afriyie made these remarks during the inauguration of a GHS 800,000.00 community center in Dabaa, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti region. The project, initially started by the district assembly under the NPP government, was completed by the current NDC government. The Apagyahene encouraged district assemblies to maintain this approach, highlighting its potential to accelerate community development.
He further expressed the traditional council's intention to enhance the community center by constructing a fence wall, installing pavement blocks, and beautifying the landscape to make it more appealing and secure for event organizers and the public. Oheneba Owusu-Afriyie also emphasized the importance of involving traditional rulers in development planning due to their permanent presence and ability to oversee project implementation in their communities.
The Apagyahene pointed out that traditional rulers could support assembly members who face challenges in regularly visiting multiple communities they represent. The newly inaugurated facility is expected to host various programs, including civic engagement, community meetings, youth development initiatives, skills training, educational workshops, and cultural and social events.
District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla described the initiative as a directive from the Presidency, assuring that it would continue to be implemented for the benefit of residents and to enhance the assembly's revenue. He reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring every community in the district feels the impact of development efforts. Residents expressed their appreciation for the completion of the community center and the operational status of the previously uncompleted Senior High School in the town.
