Cedi Closes Week Slightly Lower Against Major Currencies

Accra: The Ghana cedi ended the first week of February 2026 at GHS10.98 to the US dollar on the interbank market, with the dollar quoted at GHS10.97 (buying) and GHS10.98 (selling).

According to Ghana Web, the euro closed at GHS12.96, while the pound sterling traded at GHS14.88. Rates at forex bureaus were notably higher, with the dollar selling at GHS11.90 and the euro reaching GHS14.20. The pound, on the other hand, climbed to GHS16.30.

These elevated rates reflect strong demand for foreign exchange amid limited supply. Many Ghanaians expect the central bank to continue market interventions to stabilize the cedi against major trading currencies.
