Accra: The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has opened up about the times the late MP for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, came to his help when he was in deep trouble. Speaking at the home of the late MP, where he went to pay his last respects together with some of his colleagues from the Majority Caucus, Sosu narrated how the late MP helped him flee the country when attempts were made to arrest him under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
According to Ghana Web, Sosu explained that it was Naser who bought the plane ticket for him to travel to the United States when the Akufo-Addo government wanted to 'persecute' him. Sosu recounted an incident in 2021 when he led a demonstration for roads in Madina, which led to attempts to arrest him at the church. He detailed how Honourable Muntaka helped him evade arrest by taking him to Parliament and then back to his house. He credited Honourable Naser, Honourable Jaja, and Abogza for helping him hide.
Sosu vividly recalled the night he was hidden at Hon. Jaja's house and how Hon. Naser managed to secure funds for a flight to the US that same night, ensuring his escape from the Akufo-Addo administration's reach. The Madina legislator also shared that the late Naser was instrumental in helping him establish an office in his constituency.
Reflecting on his last interaction with Naser, Sosu mentioned that their final conversation occurred in Parliament, where Naser offered him support for his office. The news of Naser's passing left Sosu in shock, and he expressed prayers for Naser's soul, wishing him peace with Almighty Allah.
