Accra: The Kotobabi District Court granted bail to two workers from Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The bail, set at GHS10,000.00 with two sureties each, was given in connection to the alleged theft of 160 liters of diesel.
According to Ghana Web, the court has mandated that Daniel Ansah, 46, and Sampson Gyamfi, 33, both electrical technicians at KIA, report to the police three times a week. The two have denied conspiring to steal the diesel, valued at GHS1,793.60, which is the property of the Ghana Airport Company Limited. Their next court appearance is scheduled for February 18, 2026, before Justice Maame Yaa Kusi-Mensah.
Police Chief Inspector Christine Bansah provided the details of the case, explaining that Foster Afloh, the complainant, is a National Investigation Bureau officer at KIA. On January 18, 2026, at approximately 0328 hours, the complainant intercepted Ansah and Gyamfi transporting eight yellow gallons filled with diesel in a Nissan pickup, registered as GV531-14, during a routine check.
The accused were unable to provide a reasonable explanation for their actions when questioned, leading to their arrest. They were taken to the Airport Police Station, along with the exhibits, where a formal complaint was filed. The investigation revealed that the accused admitted to the offenses in their cautioned statements and subsequently led the police to the KIA emergency power plants section, where the diesel was siphoned.
