Obuasi: Members of the Obuasi Links Diaspora recently visited the Obuasi Government Hospital to donate GH?10,000 and a heart-checking medical machine aimed at enhancing healthcare services. The donation was intended to support patients facing financial challenges, particularly those unable to afford medication, discharge bills, and post-delivery care.
According to Ghana Web, the visiting team was warmly received by Emmanuel Antwi Agyei, Municipal Public Health Nurse and Head of Nurses, along with Acting Director Ransford Owusu and other hospital officials. The visit was focused on assessing the hospital's needs and providing necessary support.
Speaking on behalf of the Diaspora, Love Konadu revealed that the donation stemmed from observations that a significant number of patients and pregnant women struggle to settle hospital bills. Konadu indicated that any remaining funds would be directed towards addressing other urgent needs. The newly donated medical machine is anticipated to enhance the diagnosis of heart-related conditions at the hospital.
Victor, Secretary of the Obuasi Links Diaspora, shared plans for 2026, which include building a multi-purpose children's facility at Boete in Obuasi East. This facility is expected to feature a computer lab, sports, and recreational spaces.
Hospital authorities have requested further support, including a child-care facility for nurses, storage space for medical equipment, and additional hospital beds, delivery beds, and wheelchairs. The Diaspora team acknowledged these requests and assured the hospital management of their consideration.
The Acting Director expressed appreciation to the Obuasi Links Diaspora for their timely support, noting that the visit was impactful and a significant boost to healthcare delivery at the hospital.
