Accra: Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, founder of the Perez Chapel International, has advised Ghanaians to be cautious of prophecies driven by financial gain or personal ambition. False prophecies, he noted, have the potential to instill fear, hopelessness, and an unhealthy dependence on prophets rather than on God.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Archbishop shared these insights during a joint church service at the Headquarters of the Perez Chapel International in Dzorwulu, Accra. His sermon, themed 'Prophets and Prophecy, Are They Important,' emphasized that while prophecies are significant, they must be rooted in scripture, governed by accountability, motivated by love, and centered on Christ.
Archbishop Agyinasare stressed that true prophecies are intended to strengthen homes, build social cohesion, and support careers rather than destroy them. He referenced Matthew 7:15-20 to urge Christians to be wary of false prophets, explaining that such individuals can be identified by their actions or 'fruits.'
He further stated that prophecies which humiliate leaders or spread fear do not align with biblical teachings, reiterating that 'God does not frighten His people.' He highlighted the indispensable role of prophets and prophecy in the church as part of God's divine plan, meant for guidance and unity within Christendom.
Archbishop Agyinasare concluded by affirming his belief in the prophetic ministry ordained by God but cautioned that not every prophecy should be accepted without scrutiny.
