Bono region: The Bono Regional Police Command is set to deploy 70 personnel to each voting center in the region as delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepare for their Presidential Primary on Saturday. The election is scheduled for January 31, 2026, to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
According to Ghana News Agency, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer, highlighted that the regional patrol team would traverse the 12 politically administrative constituencies to ensure law and order. In a discussion with the agency about police preparedness, Chief Inspector Akeelah affirmed the police's commitment to maintaining peace during the election process.
The police have already engaged with the NPP, other stakeholders, and the Electoral Commission (EC) in the region to implement measures for smooth elections. Chief Inspector Akeelah noted the party's cooperation with the police on security matters, emphasizing the deployment of full security strength similar to general elections.
Police personnel have undergone public order management and rapid response training, with assurances of their commitment to providing maximum security. Chief Inspector Akeelah warned that any troublemakers would face arrest and prosecution, and that 'macho men' would not be permitted at the voting centers.
