Sunyani: Mr. Patrick Antwi, the Bono and Ahafo Regional Manager of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), announced that the Commission received 7,000 complaints from 2018 to 2025 in the region. Remarkably, about 99 percent of these complaints have been resolved, and he encouraged utility users to continue directing their grievances to the Commission for resolution.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Antwi shared this information during a one-day media training organized by the PURC in Sunyani. The purpose of the event was to enhance media practitioners' understanding and foster stronger relationships between the PURC and the media. He emphasized the Commission's dedication to ensuring consumers receive optimal service from utility providers while also urging users to pay their bills punctually.
Mr. Antwi highlighted plans for the PURC to intensify stakeholder engagements and increase collaboration with the media in 2026. He advised media professionals to maintain accuracy in their reporting, ensuring consumers are well-informed about the PURC's activities and those of utility providers.
The training session, attended by approximately 40 media practitioners, including radio hosts and journalists, covered the PURC's mandate and the factors influencing quarterly and major tariff reviews. Mr. Daniel Donkor, a participant, expressed to the Ghana News Agency that the training was both insightful and educational, and he encouraged the PURC to continue such initiatives.
