Accra: The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued a warning that any attempt to disrupt the upcoming presidential primary will be met with action from security agencies. This announcement was made during the signing of a peace pact by the NPP presidential aspirants.
According to Ghana Web, Frimpong emphasized the party's commitment to ensuring that the internal elections, set for January 31, 2026, are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. He cautioned, "I want to send a strong caution to anyone, whether inside or outside our party, who intends to discredit or disrupt our democracy on January 31. Be careful, because the IGP and his men will apprehend anybody who tries to cause chaos."
He also urged all presidential aspirants to behave with restraint and maintain party unity throughout the election process. Frimpong highlighted the importance of collective support within the party, stating that no single aspirant can secure victory in the 2028 general elections without it. He remarked, "This contest is not a war; it is only to show whether you have the support of the party. When you win, you still need the support of your brothers to carry on and win the 2028 Election."
Justin Kodua assured the aspirants that the party leadership is ready to support all candidates and will spearhead reconciliation efforts after the primary to unite the party for the 2028 Election. The signing of the peace pact is part of the NPP's strategy to ensure peaceful internal elections and bolster party unity as it prepares for the general elections in 2028. The NPP presidential primary is scheduled for January 31, 2026.
