Tamale: The Tamale Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana has held a grand durbar to climax its 35th anniversary celebration marking years of faithful witness, mission, and service.
According to Ghana News Agency, the celebrations were marked by singing and dancing amid various performances, and brought together clergy, laity, traditional leaders, ecumenical partners, and members of the public. The event was themed 'Imparting God's Word in the Tamale Diocese: 35 Years and Beyond'.
Most Reverend Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, addressed the grand durbar in Tamale. He highlighted the Church's significant role in providing quality education and medical care for the citizenry, stating, 'When it comes to education and medical care, the contributions of the Church have been unparalleled.' He assured that the Church would continue to positively impact more lives and urged members to remain steadfast in their service to God and society.
Mr Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister, through a speech read on his behalf by Mr Salifu Yakubu Abdulai, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC), expressed appreciation for the Church's dedication to faith, service, and community development. He acknowledged, 'The Church remains a vital partner in shaping values, promoting peace, and uplifting our communities. Your dedication to spiritual growth and social responsibility does not go unnoticed and it continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.' Mr John assured the Church of his support and emphasized strong collaboration with the NRCC for regional progress.
The Tamale Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, established in 1989, extends its presence across districts including Tamale, Yendi, Damongo, Sawla, and Bole.
