Kumasi: The National Commission on Culture (NCC) has appealed to Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, to facilitate the renovation and completion of two critical building projects at the Kumasi Cultural Centre. Mr. Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, the Executive Director of the NCC, highlighted the need for these projects, which include the renovation of the 'Apatakesie' Hall and the completion of an amphitheatre, to enhance cultural events and inspire local creatives.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ackuaku made this appeal while leading a team from the NCC and the Ashanti Regional Centre for National Culture (CNC) during a courtesy visit to the Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). This visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the CNC and the RCC in fostering cultural development.
The meeting also served to inform the RCC about the upcoming 75th Anniversary of the Kumasi Cultural Centre in October. Mr. Ackuaku emphasized the importance of completing the building projects as a significant achievement for the Centre's anniversary. He noted that the renovated and completed halls would generate additional income and promote cultural heritage.
Mr. Ackuaku urged the Regional Minister to establish a Planning Committee for the anniversary to ensure its success. He also congratulated Dr. Amoakohene on his appointment and praised his leadership in the region.
Dr. Amoakohene expressed his commitment to supporting the NCC and CNC in their cultural preservation efforts. He encouraged the continuation of the AshantiFest event, mentioning that many activities would be hosted at the cultural centre this year.
The Executive Director of NCC also shared plans for this year's 'December in GH' event to be organized in Kumasi by the NCC and CNC, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.
