Sandema: Justice Retired Seth Aduadem Alafa, a Senior Cadre of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the rank and file of the Party to protect Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). He said though the Mahama-led government was delivering on its promises to improve the lives of Ghanaians, others were scouting for scandals to distract the government.
According to Ghana News Agency, despite the achievements of the government, Mr. Gyamfi has become a target for criticism, particularly from the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Minority in Parliament, following a reported $214 million loss under the Gold-for-Reserves programme. Justice Retired Alafa emphasized the need for the Party to rally around Mr. Gyamfi, acknowledging his contributions and warning against the intimidation tactics intended to distract him from his role.
The remarks were made during a lecture on the history of the NDC Revolution held in Sandema as part of the 44th Anniversary celebration of the 31st December Revolution. The event, themed 'Consolidating the Reset Agenda: Reflections on the gains of the 31st December Revolution,' brought together both senior and junior members of the Party, including notable figures such as Mr. James Agalga, MP for Builsa North Constituency, and Madam Anne Musah, District Chief Executive for Builsa South.
Justice Retired Alafa also paid tribute to the pioneers of the Party in the region, including Mr. Ankisiba Alafisa and Mr. Akinkang Anyanga, acknowledging their sacrifices for the Party's success. He also expressed prayers for the peaceful rest of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rawlings and urged Party members to uphold their vision.
Mr. Anthony Ayende Akanbontoga, another Senior Cadre, highlighted the importance of cadres in modern politics, stressing the need for them to embody the principles of Probity and Accountability. He urged members to maintain the spirit of the Party in contemporary politics.
Mr. Daniel Adoliba Akologo, Upper East Regional Chairman of the United Cadres Front (UCF), reflected on the core principles of the 31st December Revolution, which aimed to transform the social and economic landscape of Ghana. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by many to uphold these ideals, emphasizing the importance of remembering their contributions to the movement's success.
