DISEC Engages Kassena-Nankana West Assembly Members on Security Matters

Accra: The Kassena-Nankana West District Security Council (DISEC) has engaged Assembly members from the 46 electoral areas to update them on security issues within the district. The meeting was led by DISEC Chairman Mr. Stephen Aeke Akurugo and involved representatives from various security agencies. According to Ghana News Agency, the engagement was part of a strategy to involve Assembly members and their constituents in enhancing law and order in the district. Security heads from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Prisons Service addressed the Assembly members on sector-specific security concerns. The meeting, which was the third ordinary session of the Assembly, provided members the opportunity to interact with security leaders and address concerns relevant to their electoral areas. DISEC Chairman and District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Akurugo, emphasized the importance of the Assembly members' role in staying informed about security matters as co mmunity representatives. Mr. Akurugo expressed hope that Assembly members would educate their constituents on collaborating with security agencies and sharing vital information to ensure peace and order throughout the district. He noted that effective implementation of discussed issues would foster a peaceful district, facilitating the successful execution of government programs and policies. Additionally, Mr. Akurugo presented an Executive Committee report recommending the draft Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) for the General Assembly's adoption. The draft included infrastructure projects such as constructing convenience facilities and water sources in major markets, developing a livestock market at Paga, and improving access routes to various markets. The draft also prioritized educational infrastructure support for schools in poor condition, such as Kaasi and Kasaam Junior High Schools. Mr. Akurugo thanked Assembly members, department heads, and staff for their dedication, which has contributed to t he Assembly's progress. He assured the community of the District Assembly's commitment to working diligently for the people's interests and promoting development across all communities. Mr. Akurugo concluded by wishing the people a prosperous New Year, hoping for renewed strength, unity, and success in their collaborative efforts.
