Assin south: More than 30 schools in the Assin South District of the Central Region participated in the 69th Independence Day parade, celebrated under the theme 'Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.'
According to Ghana News Agency, Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Jonathan Birikorang addressed the parade, emphasizing the duty of all Ghanaians to honor the courage and unity of their forebearers by not only celebrating political freedom but also working collaboratively to build prosperity and restore hope for every citizen.
He elaborated that building prosperity involves enhancing the local economy, upgrading infrastructure, supporting farmers and traders, and creating opportunities for the youth. In alignment with this vision, he announced government plans to construct a 24-hour economy market at Assin Andoe, aimed at boosting trade, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods.
Mr. Birikorang also voiced concerns over acts of hooliganism observed in some schools and issued a stern warning that students engaging in such behavior would face strict punishment. He urged students to focus on their studies, maintain discipline, respect teachers and parents, and have self-belief to achieve significant accomplishments.
The event was attended by Nanaanom, clergy, staff of the District Assembly, Education Directorate, and other enthusiastic guests, who showcased Ghana's cultural diversity through their colorful traditional attire.
