Accra: The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been progressing without any security incidents, according to the executive director of the White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup. The announcement was made on Monday, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to maintain a safe environment for the event.
According to Ghana News Agency, Andrew Giuliani, speaking to CNBC, noted that there have been no major security incidents reported during the tournament. He highlighted the continuous work happening behind the scenes to ensure the focus remains on the thrilling matches taking place. Giuliani assured that these efforts will persist throughout the next 35 days to guarantee a secure and successful World Cup.
Giuliani also mentioned the extensive security measures in place, including counter-drone coverage and counter-UAS mitigation, for all 78 matches. This year's World Cup marks a historic occasion as it is the first to feature 48 national teams and is co-hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico, running from June 11 to July 19.
