Teshie Residents take to the streets over dilapidated roads

Teshie residents have massed on the streets, demanding immediate action to address the deplorable state of their roads.

This vibrant community, nestled within the heart of Accra, has long suffered from a devastating decay in its transportation infrastructure among commuters who bear the brunt of the dire consequences on a daily basis.

One exasperated road user, in an interview with Citi News, passionately expressed the plea of the community, stating;

“All we are asking for is for the road to be fixed. I’ve had to visit the mechanic twice this week alone due to the damages caused by the deteriorated roads. The neglect we endure as residents is disheartening. The number of potholes is even surpassing that of galamsey sites.”

Residents of Teshie took to the streets on, May 30, 2023.

Their collective voice echoed through the community as they sought respite from the persistent negligence that has plagued their roads for far too long.

They assertively called for urgent intervention and the allocation of resources to rectify this pressing issue.

The protest serves as a potent reminder that communities cannot be overlooked when it comes to the equitable distribution of resources and essential infrastructure.

What kind of childish statement is this? – NPP MP slams Ambulance Service over vehicle found in Dubai

The Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, has slammed the Ghana National Ambulance Service (GNAS) over the statement it issued regarding its vehicle that was found in a car dealership in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Speaking during a panel discussion on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the MP said that the explanation given by the Ambulance Service did not make sense because their vehicle was found at a known dealership in Dubai.

He added that the claim that the Ambulance Service vehicle was found at the warehouse of the manufacturers of the vehicle, is a total lie.

“People like this people, they make work very difficult. What does he (the person who issued the statement) think, that he is speaking to his children? Who signed that letter?

“… you have ordered a brand-new vehicle to be shipped to you and they have taken the branded vehicle and they have exposed it to the world, in an open garage market. The place (the vehicle was found) is called Sharjah, in Dubai who doesn’t know that place? Who are the manufacturers and is that their warehouse?

“Every brand new car is kept in a warehouse… What kind of childish statement is this and this person is paid at the end of the month and I will come and sit here and defend some government,” he said.

He called on the government to fire the persons who issued the statement.

Background:

The Ghana National Ambulance Service (GNAS) denied allegations that some of its vehicles are being sold in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) after a video of one of its vehicles in the country went viral.

According to the service, the GNAS-branded vehicle, captured in the video, is part of 26 new vehicles procured by the government through a World Bank facility.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 29, 2023, which was sighted by GhanaWeb, the GNAS added that the video was shot at the company manufacturing the vehicles.

“The manufacturing processes are over and very soon the ambulances will be shipped into Ghana,” the GNAS added.

In the video, the said ambulance can be seen in a car dealership with several vehicles of different brands.

It had the logo of the Ghana Ambulance Service, and the Coat of Arms of Ghana branded on it.

It also had the inscription “Radiology Specialist Ambulance, Minister of Health, Funded by World Bank on it.

Two Ghanaians living in Dubai recorded the video, who indicated that the car was being sold.

What happened to Agyinasare in Nogokpo that provoked his infamous comments

It is true that the leader and founder of the Perez Chapel International Archbishop, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, courted the angst and fury of many people with his recent comments in reference to the Ketu South township of Nogokpo, indicating that it is the “demonic headquarters in the Volta Region.”

Also, it is true that after several people came out to call him out and demand that he apologize, the revered clergyman clarified his comments and issued an apology.

“In reference to Nogokpo, I wish to clarify that I never intended to refer to the town but an incident that happened after a crusade at Aflao. I had absolutely no intention to cast a slur upon the people of the Nogokpo Town and the Volta Region as a whole.

“I have had a very cordial relationship with the people of the Volta Region. My wife of 38 years is an Ewe from Keta. And two of my sons bear Ewe names. All of the examples I gave were not intended to denigrate any of the towns and their people but to elucidate the principle of divine protection to congregants,” he said.

However, what was it that actually sparked the controversial comment by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare?

In an attempt to bring some further clarity to what informed the preacher’s comments, which he says were not intended the way they were said, GhanaWeb brings to its readers what happened to the preacher when he went through Nogokpo.

Speaking during Perez Chapel’s Supernatural Encounter program on Thursday, May 25, 2023, the archbishop explained that during a crusade in the area, he had asked one of his bishops to preach about witchcraft.

He added that this preaching was not something the witches in the area were happy with, and for that reason, something very unusual happened to them on their way back to their hotel to sleep.

“During this crusade in Aflao… we slept at Agbozume – that’s where our hotel was, and you have to go through Nogokpo… we only had not said it, but the second night, I made Bishop Yaw Adu talk about witchcraft, and we disgraced the witches and wizards.

“When we were driving from Aflao to Agbozume, immediately we got to Nogokpo, Bishop Yaw Adu’s 4-wheel drive, the tyre came out from under the car,” he explained.

Following the earlier statement by Archbishop Agyinasare about Nogokpo, the Dufia (chief) of Nogokpo, Torgbui Saba V, issued a statement in which he said that the traditional authorities of Nogokpo were looking into the comment and that they would make public the actions they would take on the matter.

“It has come to the notice of Torgbui Saba V. Dufia of Nogokpo about the current happenings on social media about Archbishop Charles Agyinasare.

“We wish to let Ghanaians and the world know that we are deliberating on the issue and you shall hear from us in due course,” parts of the statement read.

Why music legend Amakye Dede quit football administration in Ghana

Ace sports presenter, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has disclosed that legendary musician Amakye Dede was forced to fold up his football club after persistent unfair officiating.

Kwaku Yeboah recounts that Amakye Dede established a football club and engaged former Ghana international, Kalilu Dramani as head coach.

The team as confirmed by former Ghana defender, Asante Frimpong Manso used to play in the defunct Middle League.

“Amakye Dede formed a team and recruited Kalilou Dramani as a coach. They cheated him till he gave up,” he said.

Frimpong Manso added “I remember quite well that they used to play in the Middle League. Kalilou called me to assist. It’s unfortunate.”

The issue of unfair officiating has long plagued Ghana football with occasional issues of referees handling clubs and players’ raw deals.

It has been said that former Ghana striker, Tony Yeboah exited the football administration in Ghana and sold out his Yegoala Football Club due to consistent demand for money by referees.

“I once told a referee in an away game to officiate fairly but to my surprise, he asked if I was a novice in Ghana’s league,” Yeboah was quoted as saying by Agyenkwa FM.

“Some of my players used to come to inform me about referees’ [requests] for bribes [in order for us to] continue to be in the league. But I told the players to play with their strength. If I didn’t quit, I would have fallen victim of bribery allegations.”

Wait, NPP has a tradition – Carlos Ahenkorah appeals to Bawumia

Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, the Member of Parliament for the Tema West constituency, has urged Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to postpone his presidential ambitions

Carlos Ahenkorah emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) follows a tradition that outlines a succession plan for the presidency, and it is currently Alan Kyerematen’s turn.

He drew parallels to past instances within the party, where guidance was provided to former President Akufo-Addo when he contested against President Kufuor, and to Alan Kyerematen when he contested against Nana Addo.

He encouraged Bawumia to follow the same advice and allow Alan Kyerematen to contest, as he is next in line.

During an interview on the Ade Akye Abia show, Ahenkorah expressed confidence that Bawumia would eventually become the NPP’s presidential candidate but emphasized that the timing is not right at present, considering the party’s established tradition.

“…The advice we gave Nana Addo the time he and Kuffuor contested, and the advice we gave Alan Kyerematen when he contested Nana Addo, is the same advice we are giving Bawumia.

“He will definitely become the president but at this stage, Alan Kyeremeten has more years ahead of him than Bawuimia. He (Bawumia) should allow Alan Kyeremeten to become the flagbearer, and then Bawumia will take over.

“We have a problem in the party, our biggest problem as NPP is the political wildest for 32 years, due to this we accumulated a lot of leaders from JH Mensah’s time to Apraku’s time among others.”
