Former pastor and wife turn ‘Rasta’, trend online after almost-naked video goes viral

The internet has been reacting to a video of a couple dancing, goofing and fondling themselves.

The said couple, captured in dreadlocs and in a bizarre state, were seen smoking and feeding TikTok viewers with their moments of fun, both of them in underwear.

The man was spotted in a set of tight briefs which exposed the silhouette of his manhood and was smoking.

His wife, thin in stature, wore a huge white lose pant with a black bra to match, as she wiggled her butt whiles caressing her husband.

However, not too long after the said video went viral, social media users dug out their old pictures which saw the couple in a good-looking, healthy state with their two children.

As details of their past unfolded, some persons suggested the couple were once church owners.

However, their current state, particularly, the whereabouts of their children have since sparked numerous discussions on social media.

Shortly after, the couple spoke to KofiTV, where they admitted to pulling down their church and converting it into a farm.

Stating reasons for such a move, they stated that they weren’t making enough profits from the church, adding, their farm currently fetches them more money.

They also narrated how they gradually lost all their church members and became poor since they could not accrue any church offerings.

“I am still continuing the ministry but this one isn’t about Jesus. I am doing something to be able to feed myself. When I followed him, I didn’t really gain anything from it,” the former pastor said.

“When we hold church service at that time, only few people came and we didn’t make anything out of it. We were making stupid losses. If no member brings offering, you won’t be able to eat. When my husband’s anointing was growing, members were reducing. This farm gives us a lot of profit. I cook a lot of the maize and sell them. If you follow some so-called church, or even Jesus Christ, you won’t gain anything from it,” his wife, Joycelyn, added.

Man jailed 15 years for defiling biological daughter

Stephen Aidoo, a 36-year-old farmer has been jailed 15 years for defiling his 13-year-old biological daughter by the Cape Coast Circuit Court.

He pleaded guilty simpliciter to two offenses of defilement and incest and further told the Court that he had had sex with the daughter only two times.

The court presided over by Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith -Arthur found Aidoo guilty and convicted him on his own plea.

The court sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment for defilement and five years for incest but the sentence would run concurrently.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector John Asare Bediako told the court that complainant Elizabeth Akyerefi is mother of the 13-year-old girl whilst Aidoo is the father; all residing in the same village.

He said 12 years ago, Elizabeth and Aidoo separated leaving their daughter in the care of Elizabeth (her mother).

Chief Inspector Asare Bediako added that eight years later, Aidoo took custody of their daughter and for about a year, Aidoo has forcefully been abusing her sexually on numerous occasions.

Aidoo, however, warned his daughter to never disclose to anyone or he will disgrace her until the abuse became unbearable.

The Prosecutor said two weeks ago, the 13-year-old daughter who could not bear the situation left home and narrated it to her mother.

On May 17, a formal report was made at the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Twifo Praso, and a police medical form was issued for her examination.

The report after the examination showed that her hymen was absent indicating several sexual intercourses.

Inspector Asare Bediako said the Police upon the report invited and arrested Aidoo, where he admitted the offense and was arraigned before court.

FACT-CHECK: David Adjaye has not been commissioned to design Rwandan Cathedral

“The architect behind Ghana’s controversial National Cathedral, David Adjaye, has been commissioned by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to design a ‘modern’ cathedral for the Kigali Archdiocese.

“The structure is expected to be built on the 5.5-hectare plot of land that used to house the former Nyarugenge Prison, also known as ‘1930,’ after the year it was built,” this is part of a Citi FM publication citing BBN Breaking news website..

The report continues: “The prestigious project aims to create an iconic and modern place of worship that reflects Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage and serves as a symbol of unity and spiritual devotion.

“The announcement was made on Thursday, May 11, during a budget hearing in which the Rwanda Development Board officials presented to the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Trade the institution’s projected spending for the next fiscal year, which begins in July 2023.”

What GhanaWeb Fact-Check team found:

Our first stop was to get a local news portal or government site that had reported on the development or even posted about it on social media.

Rwanda’s leading pro-government news portal is the New Time Rwanda news portal which had no active webpage with the story except for a broken link. It appears that the story they published had been pulled down.

Second step, we went through the social media handles of the Rwandan Development Board which had nothing related to Kigali Cathedral throughout May 11, the day the said deal was announced during a budget hearing.

Curious so, because the RDB is very active on social media and posts all major updates of its activities in real time. It’s website also has no trace of such a development.

Third step: The webiste of Adjaye and Associates will ordinarily post such deals on their news page.

The most recent news on that page dates back to March 21, titled: “Street Plaza by Adjaye Associates with Daniel Boyd,” reference to a project that “”they were working on in Sydney, Australia’s Central Business District.

Fourth step: When you type “Rwanda” into the search engine of the adjaye and associates website, you get one news item popping up.

It relates to the 2015 story by dezeen.com titled: “David Adjaye unveils designs for children’s cancer treatment centre in Rwanda”

Its first two paragraphs read: “British architect David Adjaye has revealed plans for a 100-bed paediatric cancer centre in Rwanda, East Africa.

“The architect, who was born in Tanzania, is designing the Gahanga International Children’s Cancer Hospital for a four-hectare site in Gahanga, a region to the south of Rwandan capital Kigali.”

The project was actually commissioned by an NGO and co-funded by a Rwandan diplomat.

Conclusion:

There is no concrete evidence that Adjaye and Associates have been commissioned to design the Kigali Cathedral.

What we can report is that, there has been plans to build the facility but nothing has so far been mooted about architectural drawings.

2024 elections: Mahama to change running mate?

There is intense lobbying by the camp of 2020 running mate of the National Democratic Congress NDC Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to keep her job after calls for her to be changed by John Mahama.

A number of names are reportedly coming up following the conclusion of the party Primaries that elected John Mahama as NDC flagbearer.

This is following accusations against the 2020 Running mate of John Mahama of not adding much to the fortunes of the party in the 2020 elections.

Iinsiders told MyNewsGh.com Editor “new names have come up for consideration but not so seriously because the focus was on getting John Mahama overwhelmingly elected. Now that is behind us but it’s too early”.

Some of the prominent names that may come under strong consideration include Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, a former Deputy Chief of Staff and trusted John Mahama senior advisor. She is said to have strong ties within the party and outside the party with networks that could benefit Mahama in 2024.

Patrick Awuah, founder of the Ashesi University who along with late Finance Minister Kwesi Botchwey reportedly turned down Mahama’s Running Mate offers in 2020 could also be considered again with hopes he changes his mind.

Others include minority leader Cassiel Ato Forson, economist, MP and former Deputy Finance Minister; Kwame Awuah-Darko, former BOST and TOR Managing Director who was under consideration as 2020 running mate; Joseph Siaw Agyapong, Group CEO of Jospong and party financier; Opong Fosu, a local government expert and Eric Opoku, an influential MP who could win the middle and Southern belts of Ghana for NDC.

MyNewsGh.com Editor was informed Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has wide admirers lobbying for her to be maintained in 2024.

Some members however believe the NDC could lose the 2024 election because of her lack of national appeal to voters.

Last year, a former Foreign Minister, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah stated that the 2020 running mate failed the party in the 2020 elections and did not add anything to the fortune of the party.

“The lady who is a running mate to Mahama lost the Central Region in the last election. Lost a whole constituency,” he said.

A former National Organizer of the NDC Yaw Boateng Gyan added:

“The decision to make Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman as our running mate was very poor. She was a bad choice. She added nothing to our fortunes. I would say she was a monumental flop as running mate to President John Mahama”.

Employees can go beyond their limits if given the opportunity and support – Felicia Folitse

Head of Human Resources at TAQA Ghana, Felicia Opoku-Folitse, has advised that HR of organizations must strategize plans and policies to support employee growth.

She made this known at the 2023 edition of the HR Professional Brunch held in Accra on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

According to her, Human Resource professionals should ensure that the strategies they develop have employee well-being taking centre stage.

“As HR professionals when we are doing our strategy, we need to ensure that we are embedding purpose, potential and perspective in every policy that we make. Embedding purpose in every strategy that we take means that you are taking into consideration the wellbeing of the employees,” she said.

Madam Felicia further said employees work better when supported with the right strategies and opportunities.

“When we look at potentials, we as human beings, are capable of doing much more than we actually think we can. This is the point where if you are strategizing you should realize that you have employees, but people can go beyond their limit if they are given the opportunity to do so and supported in the right way. So, you need to stretch people and support them. Because they thrive, your business will also thrive,” she added.

Elect an experienced, trustworthy person to make NPP win 2024 – Joe Ghartey to delegates

Presidential candidate aspirant, Joe Ghartey, has urged delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect an experienced and trustworthy presidential candidate to help the party win the 2024 general elections.

He said that the party needed someone who was loyal and also had compassion to lead the party.

The former Minister of Railways Development, while talking in an interview with Sir John on Fox morning drive on Tuesday as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region, monitored by The Chronicle urged the delegates to do the needful by voting for him if they wanted the party to break the 8 years myth.

Joe Ghartey explained that he had been a member of the NPP since 1992 when the party was formed, and had since touted the ideals and campaigned for the party to move the country forward.

He indicated that Railway Transport was his priority and it was intention to focus on transportation infrastructure to develop Ghana. He stressing that as a country “we must always strive to go forward and not backwards.”

Talking to yet another Kumasi radio station, Angel FM, Joe Ghartey stated that the Justice for All programme he initiated had decongested Ghana’s prisons.

He said the introduction of the Justice for All programme had reduced the number of remand persons in Ghanaian prisons to 9% from 33%.

“Justice for All” was a programme which, among other things, moved the court into the prisons to grant relief to people who were unjustifiably incarcerated. Today, I say this to praise the Lord, that only 9% of our inmates are remand prisoners,” Joe Ghartey educated listeners of Angel FM.

He explained that the decision to introduce such a life-touching programme was realised after visiting the Kumasi Central Prison, where he saw that the place was overcrowded, during which he met a young lady who had been jailed in very unfortunate circumstances.

He added that “other African countries like Kenya have adopted the programme to help reduce the number of remand prisoners in their prisons in their countries.”

The lawmaker affirmed that these initiatives made him happy, because it was all about making a difference wherever he found himself in serving the people.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set November 4, 2023 for its presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the general elections in 2024.

Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice Joe Ghartey will face former Agric Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Former Trade Minister, Mr. Boakye Agyako, former Energy Minister; Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong, former General Secretary of the party, Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku alongside the Vice. President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who have all declared their intention to contest in the upcoming presidential primary to seek the mandate to lead the party ahead of the 2024 polls.

‘I’m not gentle like Alan’ – Ken Agyapong fires Bawumia supporters over dirty campaigns

Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling on supporters of fellow aspirants to conduct clean campaigns or risk an escalation of the unclean type they are currently pursuing.

He warned during a campaign stop in the Ashanti Region that he has been the victim of several false reportage that he has been receiving huge government contracts for which reason he is able to donate and cater for the grassroots.

Debunking those assertions which he said are peddled by some lawmakers, Chief Executive Officers and even Ministers, he said the government was rather handing juicy contracts to businessmen in the opposition National Democratic Congress.

Agyapong has in the recent past chastised people in the camp of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said to be using falsehoods to derail his campaign. He addressed them directly in one of his addresses stating thus:

“They should come and show where I got a US$150m contract, if I have ever received any such contracts. They cannot be ungrateful to people that have helped the party.

“I have served, served and served yet you end up giving contracts to NDC people then you peddle lies that contracts have been given to Ken Agyapong to cater for the polling stations. If they don’t engage in clean politics, I am not gentle like Alan,” he said to applause from the crowd.

Alan is reference to former trade minister Alan Kyerematen who is also a frontrunner in the NPP flagbearership race slated for later this year. It is widely held that the trio will lead the pack when delegates are called upon to elect a successor for president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Bawumia reveals what the NPP must do to break the eight

Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has emphasized the need for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rise above internal challenges such as pettiness, rancor, selfishness, and greed in order to achieve their goal of “breaking the eight.”

Speaking at the regional seminar of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) held at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the importance of turning the party’s aspirations into tangible action.

Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that merely stating the party’s intention to break the eight-year cycle of political power is not enough. He emphasized the necessity of a united party that addresses issues hindering the progress of both the country and the party itself. The Vice President expressed confidence in the government’s achievements and stated that by 2024, they would be able to break the eight-year cycle.

Dr. Bawumia firmly believed that if the Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration builds upon its solid foundation, completes ongoing projects, and fulfills the promises made in the 2020 manifesto, Ghanaians will provide them with the opportunity to remain in power beyond 2024. He assured the nation that the NPP government is committed to delivering on their promises.

He said, “I bring you the assurances of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that we will do our best not to disappoint Ghanaians and you, our gallant soldiers.”

Highlighting the government’s focus, Dr. Bawumia mentioned the appointments made by President Akufo-Addo, particularly those given to the youth and TESCON members. He emphasized that the benefits that Ghana and its citizens stand to gain by holding onto power would be substantial, making it crucial for the NPP to break the eight-year cycle.

“We are aware of the appointments of Nana Addo that have gone to the youth and TESCON members during the previous term and this term.

He added, “What this means is that, as we continue to work hard and hold on to power, the benefit that would accrue to Ghana and by extension to all of us would be enormous, and this is why it is important for us to break the 8.”

The Vice President reiterated the government’s commitment to building an efficient public sector, supporting private sector growth for job creation, combating bribery and corruption, and securing a prosperous future for the youth and the next generation.

He proudly mentioned the provision of free Wi-Fi to educational institutions, including senior high schools, universities, colleges of education, and district education offices, as part of the government’s efforts to expand opportunities in the rapidly evolving world of technology and digital innovation.

“We are committed to expanding their opportunities for the fast-emerging world of technological and digital innovation. I am proud that over the last years, we have set free Wifis to 722 Senior High Schools, 13 universities, 46 colleges of education and 216 district education offices,” the Vice President explained.

Dr. Bawumia also listed several problems that the government has addressed or is currently addressing to demonstrate its ability to overcome challenges. These include social intervention programs to alleviate citizens’ suffering, positive economic indicators, job creation, and the digitization of the economy for the convenience of the people.

As the NPP aims to break the eight-year cycle, Dr. Bawumia’s insights shed light on the party’s priorities and the necessary steps to achieve their objective.
